Il Museo Laboratorio della Preistoria di Vaie

Le Musée  de Préhistoire de Vaie

A circa 3 km da San Valeriano dove abito si trova un paese che si chiama Vaie (Val di Susa).

Si ha sempre voglia di fare viaggi lontani quando, a volte, abbiamo dei luoghi interessanti da visitare proprio vicino a casa.

Una delle mie ultime scoperte è stato il Museo Laboratorio della Preistoria di Vaie.

Il museo è nato nel 2001 grazie alla collaborazione tra il Comune di Vaie e il C.A.S.T. (Centro Archeologia Sperimentale di Torino).

Le attività museali sono gestite dall'associazione culturale Basta Poco.

Carla, una delle volontarie dell'associazione, è stata la persona che mi ha accompagnato in questa visita del museo.

All' interno del museo vi sono delle ricostruzioni di oggetti risalenti al Neolitico e all' Età del Rame.

I ritrovamenti di questi oggetti avvennero nei primi del 1900 in località Baita dove si trova il Riparo Rumiano.

I diversi periodi storici: Paleolitico, Neolitico ed Età dei Metalli vengono spiegati attraverso pannelli con foto e informazioni dettagliate, in più  c'è  la possibilità di approfondire l'argomento attraverso dei laboratori.

Questi laboratori didattici vengono organizzati prevalentemente per gli alunni delle scuole elementari durante i mesi di aprile e maggio, ma vi possono partecipare anche persone diversamente abili e su richiesta anche workshop tematici per adulti.

Il 13 maggio avrà luogo la festa del paese e se vi trovate nella zona vi consiglio di visitare il paese, il museo e di assaggiare una specialità locale, il canestrello: un biscotto al gusto di limone.

The Museum of Prehistory in Vaie

Das Landesmuseum für Vorgeschichte in Vaie

Vaie is a villlage located 3 km far from San Valeriano, where I live.
In this village I visited the Museum of Prehistory thanks to Carla, one of the museum guides who is also a volounteer for the Association Basta Poco.

The museum was created in 2001 with the co-operation of the Vaie Town Hall and the Turin Archaeology Experimental Centre. In the museum there are reproductions of the relics found in a local area  in Vaie where there is the Riparo Rumiano (Rumiano Shelter) by archaeologists at the beginning of the 19th century. 
Archaeological research dates these items back to the Paleolithic, Neolithic and Metal Ages.

In the museum, the Neolithic  and Metal Ages are well explained with photographs and detailed descriptions. It is also possible to learn more about prehistorical times through workshops organized by the museum. Though these workshops are primarily designed for Italian primary schools, it is possible to book them also for adults by special request.

On 13th May 2018 there will be the village festival in Vaie. If you are travelling in the area, I suggest you to visit the village and the museum. During the festival you can taste a local biscuit il "Canestrello", typical of the area.
